The calendar in this kit is a Mayan-syle calendar that tracks time according to the Gregorian calendar. Although the Mayans did not invent this style of calendar, which was used throughout Mesoamerica for thousands of years, it was an important part of their culture. Some Mayan communities in Guatemala and Mexico still track time using this calendar today.
