History Unboxed® at The HUB: Classes and Clubs

Our Fall 2023 session will run from September 4-December 15.

Classes are held weekly and require registration for the entire session. Clubs are free but require pre-registration. Story times are free to attend with no registration required, although space is limited.

HiStory Time

HiStory story time is a time for elementary age students, especially upper grade students, to listen to exciting and engaging stories from the past. Younger siblings are welcome to attend, but there may occasionally be more intense stories.

Ancient Eats: An Edible Exploration of the World Cooking Class

Ages 10-14
 $120 per student plus materials fee

Go on a mouth watering journey through the ancient world in this unique cooking class based on Ancient Eats: An Edible Exploration of the World.  Each recipe is inspired by delicious historical dishes and adapted for ease of preparation in the modern kitchen. Feed your mind with mythical origins and the historical significance of food around the world and across tens of thousands of years.

The Dig: Archaeology Simulation Class

Ages 8-12
$120 per student plus materials fee

The Dig is an ongoing class that simulates an archaeology dig. Students will learn about the challenges of interpreting historical evidence, especially in the absence of a translated written language. They will work in teams to create their own cultures and investigate archaeological sites created by other teams. This class will culminate in a museum exhibit for families to attend.

History to Go

All Ages
$10 per participant. Free for members. 

History to Go is an activity time for all ages. Each History to Go session will include a brief historical lesson and a hands-on craft or other historically inspired activity. These are held once a month. Members may attend for free or take their kits to go. 

Historic Board Game Club

Ages 8-12
Free

Our historic board game club will take students through the evolution of games over time from ancient times to today. Some meetings will involve making game boards or game pieces before playing. Each session is stand alone. Students are welcome to attend for a single week. 

Historic People, Pets, and Me Club

Ages 6-10
Free

Learn about famous people of the past and then make costumes for your favorite furry companions, whether they be a pet or plush.
